What Happens When You Delete Your Account

When you request to delete your Kose driver account, the following information will be permanently removed from our systems:

  • Your driver profile and personal information (name, phone number, address, email)
  • Your complete trip history and ride statistics
  • Your earnings records and payment history
  • All uploaded documents (driver licence, vehicle registration, insurance certificates, proof of address)
  • Your ratings, reviews, and feedback history
  • Your vehicle details and service preferences

This action cannot be undone. Once your account is deleted, all associated data is permanently removed. You will not be able to recover your trip history, earnings records, or any other account information. If you wish to use Kose again in the future, you will need to create a new account from scratch.

Before You Delete

Before requesting account deletion, please ensure you have completed the following:

  • Withdrawn any outstanding earnings or wallet balance to your registered bank account
  • Downloaded or backed up any documents or records you need for tax, regulatory, or personal purposes
  • Completed or cancelled any active trips or scheduled services
  • Resolved any outstanding disputes, chargebacks, or payment issues with Kose
  • Cancelled any active subscription plans or promotional offers

We recommend downloading your earnings summary and trip reports from the Document Centre before requesting deletion. This will help with tax filing and financial record-keeping.

How to Request Account Deletion

You can request account deletion using one of the following methods:

3.1 In-App Request

Open the Kose driver app, go to Settings → Document Centre, and select Delete Account. Follow the confirmation steps. You will receive a confirmation email once your request has been submitted.

3.2 Email Request

Send an email to drivers@kose.africa with the subject "Account Deletion Request". In the email, please include:

  • Your registered phone number
  • Your full name
  • Your email address on file
  • A brief confirmation that you understand this action is permanent

3.3 Written Request

You may also submit a written request via post to:

Please include the same information as the email request above.

Processing Time

Account deletion requests are processed within 30 days of submission. During this period:

  • Your account will be deactivated and you will not be able to log in or accept rides
  • You will receive an email confirmation at each major step of the deletion process
  • If you change your mind, you may cancel the deletion request within 14 days of submission
  • Once the 30-day period expires, your account and all associated data will be permanently deleted

Please allow up to 30 days for complete deletion. We retain the right to extend this period if required by applicable law or if there are outstanding disputes or payment obligations.

What We Keep

For legal and regulatory compliance, Kose retains certain anonymised data after account deletion:

  • Anonymised trip data: We retain aggregated, de-identified trip data (distance, fare, time, vehicle type) for up to 5 years to comply with tax authorities in Zimbabwe, Zambia, and South Africa
  • Safety records: Serious safety incidents or violations may be retained in anonymised form to protect the safety of the community
  • Regulatory records: Records required by law (e.g., Know-Your-Customer data) may be retained for the period required by applicable regulations

These retained records contain no personally identifiable information and cannot be linked back to you. They are used only for regulatory compliance, aggregate analytics, and safety purposes.
